We are just a little over a week from the 2018 Management Conference, April 24-26 in St. George. As many of you know, this year’s conference is historic – first ever joint conference with the Utah League of Cities and Towns.
If you have not done so already, please register now by clicking here. You will also find information on lodging and other details, but most importantly we have posted the entire conference agenda that you can find here.
Food Truck Rally
We have also planned a fun evening on Wednesday, April 25 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Food trucks from around St. George will provide evening meal service for attendees of the UAC and ULCT event. As part of your registration, you will receive a $15 voucher at the Rally itself to visit the truck of your choice, then sit back, enjoy some entertainment by Ryan Tilby. If you have family and/or a friend in town with you, the trucks will also be accepting cash. To keep everything simple and organized, no change will be offered for vouchers and they can only be used at one truck – can’t be divided among multiple trucks. The Food Truck Rally will be held at Crosby Family Confluence Park, adjacent to the Dixie Center – click here for a map.
Once again, we have sold out all existing exhibit space and encourage you to take time to meet with them during the conference. To help encourage that, The Dicio Group is sponsoring a photo contest. Simply visit an exhibitor’s booth, take the most creative (funny or interesting) picture you can, then post it to your Facebook page (personal or campaign page) with the hashtag “#countycon18”. You also have to “Like” the UAC Facebook page and you can do that now – before the conference – by clicking here.
You can take and post as many pictures as you like – that will increase your odds of winning. Each picture must clearly be taken at an exhibitor space. At 5:00 pm on April 25 the contest will end and Dicio Group will choose the most creative or interesting picture and that winner will receive one free night stay in Park City. There will also be two runner up winners that will receive $50 restaurant gift cards each.
Thursday Joint Sessions
In the conference program you will see the full agenda planned for the Thursday, April 26 joint UAC/ULCT meetings. They include an 8:00 am opening general session for all members in the Garden Room, including a message from Lt. Governor Spencer Cox and an in-depth discussion on the Internet Sales Tax issue with our special guest Lisa Soronen, executive director of the State and Local Legal Center.
Following that, attendees will choose from five, two-hour breakout sessions that run concurrently from 9:45 to 11:45 am. They include economic development topics (urban and rural), land use, communications, and budgeting. After the breakout sessions, attendees will participate in a joint luncheon where keynote speaker Carey Lohrenz will share her experiences as the first female F-14 Tomcat pilot in history.
