Many counties are anxiously awaiting the opportunity to participate in a self-funded risk pool for employee health insurance benefits. A recent request from county commissioners/council members and from county human resource representatives is to obtain a quote based on participation from all 29 counties. “While we realize that all 29 counties may not join the pool, we will not know what the potential savings could be unless we at least have an opportunity to look at the numbers,” said Brandy Grace, UAC COO. “We will be quoting a county community rate that will illustrate what the premium cost would be for a self-funded plan if all the counties participated together.”
UAC has sent the request for census data to each county HR Representative and hopes to have that information returned by May 31st. From there, UAC will plan to have rates back as quickly as possible so counties can begin planning for 2019 employee benefits.
